TX-AS1 Audio Failure Detector with POTS Dial-up alert

The The TX-AS1 Audio Failure Detector with Integrated Auto-dial Voice Alert is aimed at a
new generation of broadcasters who demand high quality products at lower cost.

Applications include studio to transmitter radio link failure detection and studio based
silence monitoring - including, for example, unattended back-up switching for radio station
computerised play-out systems.

The integral PSTN interface plugs directly in to a POTS exchange line socket, providing
voice  alert of alarm conditions for station staff or engineers.

The TX-AS1 also incorporates a distribution amplifier which provides a second stereo
output  from the same audio source.

These added features save money compared to buying such items separately, and makes
complex system integration and set-up a thing of the past.

Traditionally, the parameters of audio failure detectors remain fixed, often for the entire
life of the equipment, making the plethora of expensive controls and indicators usually
associated with this kind of product, unnecessary. With this in mind, the user specified
operational parameters of the TX-AS1 are locked into the microcomputer’s firmware,
which also incorporates sophisticated algorithms to differentiate between legitimate audio
feeds and noise or intermittent breakthrough.

The TX-AS1 can memorise up to 10 telephone numbers, and plays a custom voice alert
message, which is repeated for a pre-defined call duration. The customised nature of
the voice message allows the exact location and nature of the fault to also be identified.

A voltage-free switch is available via the 9-pin ‘D’ connector on the back panel, to start
CD  or MiniDisc players, in the event of an audio failure. A 5 volt TTL level alarm output
is also provided.

Return to normal operation, once the main programme source has been restored, is
totally automatic.

The rugged, reliable TX-AS1 is currently in use at a number of radio stations and
studios,  providing piece of mind 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
